2) A Very Well Done Series! - I have used Aperture for the last 7 years. All my images (more than (25,000) were in Aperture libraries and I dreaded learning another app and the subsequent transfer of my image files. I spent hours trying to grasp the nuances of Lightroom 6. The deeper I went, the more apparent it became that I needed some help grasping the finer points. I kept coming across Laura's name in my web searches for LR help. So, I read up on her courses and decided to take the $50.00 plunge and purchase The Fundamentals & Beyond video series. After completing all the modules I can honestly say "I know Lightroom" and I am very comfortable using all the features. This is a GREAT course. Easy to use and its always there if you need a refresher or two down the road. I don't hesitate at all recommending The Fundamentals and Beyond video series.

1) Great handbook - Northrup has put together a great, systematic way in which to learn how to take good digital photos. I have taken pictures since 1949 and have developed photos since 1960, but I have learned a good bit about some technique suggestions he makes. This is not a book that you read once for content, and then you understand it all. It is a reference book to which you refer repeatedly for specific ideas. I would recommend that the beginner look at ONE technique and practice it until it becomes second nature. Then he/she should go to the next one. The mistake many beginning photographers make is that they want to control the whole thing at once, rather than bit by bit. Now, don't get the idea that this book is merely for beginners. Like I said, after 65 years of taking photos, I am still learning, daily.

2) Tony Northrup's DSLR Book: How to Create Stunning Digital Photography - This book is wonderful for anyone who is beginning to take their photography seriously. Tony Northrup instructs in a concise, understandable, yet substantial way. He presents a wide range of material which is very informative, but most importantly, practical. He also covers a variety of shooting styles each with enough pertinent support material for immediate application. Along with presenting a ton of material, in a friendly and orderly manner, he adds a "practice" section at the end of each chapter to help you, well, practice what you've just learned. This book will aid you in making progress in whatever genre of photography you may be inclined towards. Get the book, and then go get the shot!

Note: After reading some of the reviews of this book by others, I would like to make the following comments: (1) No book is so comprehensive that it contains every bit of information that anyone could possibly desire. Hence, the purpose of a personal library. I own numerous photography books by a verity of authors, each with their own particular styles, approaches ,and emphasis. I would not describe this book as a panacea, but rather as a very good resource for general information. (2) The paper quality is not great,so consequently, the print quality is not either. However, I apparently got a good copy, so the paper quality did not prove to be a troublesome distraction. I found that the photos in the book were adequate enough to demonstrate the points being made. (3) The contents of this book does outweigh its cosmetics, but, in this case, the issue didn't bother me that much. (4) All books can stand improvement, but this one serves its purpose fairly well as it is.
