SOME OF THE SAMPLE CUSTOMER REVIEW FROM AMAZON :
1) GREAT, frustrating camera - This camera is EXCELLENT! The image quality, focusing speed, size, battery life, and nearly ever other aspect are the best I've used in over 20 years of shooting, including numerous d/SLRs.
BUT... the interface is a PITA. I loved the idea of the manual dials for shutter speed, aperture, and exposure compensation. But everything else is so frustrating. For instance, when I try to set the ISO, a button which shares its function with the directional keypad, it just changes the focus point location. As if that's even vaguely helpful. And the manual is the single worst user manual I have ever seen. There is no structure or logical order to the sections, everything is poorly worded, and incredibly brief.
Like I said, I know my way around cameras. I've owned at least 15 over the years, and I shoot professionally. This was purchased for my wife as she wanted something reasonably compact and high quality, with shallow depth-of-field. But both of us get frustrated when we try to use any controls beyond those basic dials, the zoom, the shutter, and the video mode. The controls are non-standard, which is absolutely fine in theory. I am a big fan of improvement and ignoring The Way It's Always Been Done when there's a reason (really any good reason) to do so. But this is non-intuitive and the accompanying explanation is useless.
That said, it works beautifully in auto and semi-auto modes, it is rare that I have any need to change something (such as limiting the range of the auto ISO, which would be great when shutter speed can be slowed so that noise can be minimized), and we absolutely love the camera. We just wish the rest of the modes were easier to use.
